Old style Japanese house

These houses with a steep rafter roof are well adapted to the extremely heavy snows and other natural features of this region, the gasshozukuri farm house has a unique structure based on interconnected triangles and is immediately recognizable from its enormous thatched roof

Japanese Style Restroom

In Japan, bathroom does not mean what we call bathroom in US. It would mean the room with bath tab and there are no equipments for doing your business...

Common sense in Japan, it's the different things called bathroom and restroom.

Also the style of the restrooms would vary and it totally depend on the building.(or the owner of the building?)

As you can easily imagine, most of personally owned houses are like this.

But many stores and restaurants still have these kinds...

Bank is closed at 3pm sharp in Japan

Most of banks usually close it's business at 3 pm everyday and not open in weekend in Japan. I was surprised Banks in the US open 5 pm or 6 pm on Friday and even Saturday morning.

In Japan most of people working for the bank are their doing job so hard like working until midnight though they close the service at precisely 3 pm. Of cause they are conpensated by getting more money than other industry.

Pls take of your shoes at the entrance

I heard that there are many countries where people take off their shoes in the house and Japan is one of them. All the houses in Japan have the space to leave your shoes though sometimes it's a little small...

So if you take off your shoes when you come to your Japanese friends, I believe he or she will be grateful for your attitude.
